We went on a little adventure to see Cirque du Soleil last night in Mexico City. It was so amazing and beautiful. The costumes were just amazing and the acrobatics…It was such a fun and odd thing to do.

At the end there was the usual transport chaos. And a clump started forming for taxis. When we arrived we were fairly close to the front of the clump. There was a man there directed traffic, and people into taxis. Saying, move forward, the taxi line starts here. One group got into a taxi in front of us as the usual Mexican push in front of people works.

The next thing he said made me laugh the most I have in a while.

“The line starts here (where we were first) the next taxi that comes you get in, or the same thing will happen. Oh I’m not from here, bye”

And the man man runs and gets into a plain car that has just been sitting there. Mexicans love to take initiative, I love it. Maybe it just falls on the man with the loudest voice to take responsibility.

I have become slightly obsessed with Josh Pyke this week. I don’t quite know what came over me. But he’s so winner ripper.

My friend told me about this massive 2nd hand market that happens on Sundays. I went. And oh my it was so chiditzins. I bought this mini suitcase made of wood. It’s retro and cool. And all sorts of coooooooooool things. I am so thrilled that there are Mexicans that think 2nd hand things are cool because for the first half of the year it seemed they just thought I was weird.

I love autumn. It’s autumn and it reminds me why I love it. The weather at autumn makes me so happy. It’s my favourite. So fresh. Cool in the shade but makes one appreciate the sun. It’s so full of hope. And there are real super songs to listen too in autumn that fit the mood.
I’m in a super happy mood today because the weather is so super. Long live autumn may it never go away.

Cara bought a Spanish scrabble board the other day. So we decided to play Spanglish scrabble last night. Best fun ever. Cara and I have even made rules-manifesto. The best part is the ’spingo’, rather than a bingo which scores a double word score for a word that works in both languages independently. For example, ‘fin’, meaning both the end and a fin. And you have to say spingo…and it’s really rather fun.

This is my first screen printing work. Although, perhaps needs to be explained. There is a restaurant chain in Mexico called ‘Pollo Feliz’ (Happy Chicken) that serves chicken. We had to make a work with the theme of death for ‘Day of the Dead’. And so I did this.

Today has been nice for all sorts of reasons. All sorts of kind of nice interactions with people, in Australia and Mexico. One of the Mexico days where I feel a bit content.

I’ve been asking Luis to teach me how to dance salsa, because I’m determined to leave Mexico being able to dance salsa. Today we had our second lounge room class. Good ‘ol Mexicans aren’t afraid to tell you where you’re going wrong. But they are also very happy to help you. So Xanath and Gaby both got involved to help me figure out the ‘pinche’ hips. After I had a good ‘ol grabbing, Luis and I were dancing and it seemed that everyone thought I had it. Paco and Xuxa were passing through and casually commented, ‘Oh you’ve got it now.’ So that is winner. I just have to keep it up for my next class. I will be able to do this before I leave. I will!
