We had a meeting a few weeks ago to sort out a roster for cleaning. It’s resulted in all sorts of lists and things. One is who takes the rubbish out on which day. Because we are 7 and there are 7 days we all have a day. Gabbie has Sundays. Today is Sunday. Gabbie heard a bell and went to do the rubbish only to find out rubbish truck doesn’t come on Sundays.

Apparently the bell was a bell for biscuits. I think it’s only fair that if she doesn’t do rubbish she should be on biscuit duty.

On Gab and I’s adventure the other day we found ourselves on this cool ghetto bus. I’m totally tough.

I just got home from uni and there was no one in my house apart from Frida, Luis and Paco. Then they asked if I wanted an orange, a senor had just come round selling them. So Luis peeled me an orange and I ate it. Those boys are good to us.

This has been giving me many smiles

We made cocktail drinks last night. Like Fresacoladas and some Funky Monkey or something. Fun to make. I think it was supposed to be a girls night. Except it wasn’t. But I laughed a lot, which was good for my soul. I’d have to say the cocktail recipes were far better than the daiquiri we once made…nutmeg. What were we thinking?

It’s really exciting because this afternoon Cara is returning to Xalapa with her boy. We’ve heard so much of him and finally we get to meet him. And and and…it’s been so exciting thinking how exciting it is for Cara to see him after all this time. The wait is over. Yay.

The other good news is, that with Blake comes Seachange, Diver Dan, tahini paste, red curry paste, twisties. Mmm.

I think we might all drink beer together. Well I’m hoping.

We were learning how to say phone numbers in Nahuátl today. It’s funny because my teacher says, it’s just easier to do it in Spanish…the Nahuátlenses do. And here is why. To give my mobile number this is what I have to say:

Perhaps only New Zealanders ask that question frequently.

Tengo muchisímo sueño. Anoche no dormí mucho. Gabbie y yo platicabamos hasta la madrugada. Que tontas!

Hoy fui a mis clases a las 8 y me costó mucho para llegar con los ojos tapados.

Clase uno: Nahuátl. El maestro no se presentó. Esperé con otro chavo una hora y media. Y al fin salí de la escuela.
Clase dos: a las 11 en Artes. Fui. Esperé otra hora y el maestro no se presentó.

A veces no entiendo la vida acá. A veces, a veces los mexicanos…pero bien. Ahorita voy a echar un coyotito. Y al rato voy a comer en ‘Los Girasoles’ con Cara. Mmmm que archirequeterrecontrarico!

I love Luis and Paco. At about 12pm last night, they turned up at our house and did their whistle noise from down below to ask if we wanted to go in Luis’ work van/ute for coffee in Coatepec. And so we did. Minus the coffee cause it was closed. But it was fun anyway. We piled in the boot with Frida and me with my tea which proceeded to tip all over me.
