So much tired.
So much has happened…or not really because its all been under the guise of “relaxing” (which for the record I think was achieved in Chile. Books were read, a scarf was knitted, tea was drunk, and many other things that were small little niceities which always add to a good ol relax). Although since my leaving from Temuco I believe the night of Friday, well actually, since our going out dancing in Temuco the night of Thursday until the night of Sunday I do believe I had only 10-15 hours of good sleep. Resulting in me being confused, sick, disorientated and the tiredest I’ve ever really felt. But for good cause I suppose.
I arrived back in Mexico City sometime Sunday night after a long flight back from Chile (departing 6.45am) with to many plane changes and waits in random airports. I waited in Lima for 5 hours wishing I could be there with Mil and Martin, but alas no.
Basia and Gustavo (her boyfriend) picked me up from the airport which was such a nice delight. It helps make a country feel like home when you have people to pick you up. Those flights to Chile and back have officially given me a dislike of flying which is rather distressing for my childhood love of such things. I’m kind of torn. I really want to like it, but I really…just don’t.
I’ve been staying in their house in DF which has been lovely despite my sick and tired moans. Completely confused as to where I was when I walked out the door Monday. Ultra confused to be back in Mexico. But nice in many ways. The music is familiar again. The accent is the best part. I can understand and talk to people again. It was like coming back to an English speaking country. SO much easier. I love Chileans, but their talking is very hard to understand. I think I was adapting at least to Ricardo’s accent by the end (as well as he spoke clearer for us).
Mexicans really do have some great attributes if you’re a foreigner though. They speak clear and are super patient and encouraging. Muy amables. So despite my confusion in general about life I think it is nice to be back in Mexico. The land where if you’re lucky you find yummy infusion teas with bits of fruit. Or, you can go to the coolest tea shop in the world alternatively. Both are very good. And I have done both in my 2 days back here.
Basia and I have had a nice time catching up. Chatting away over teas. Trying to go to the Art Museum, realising we didn’t have time and so just good at the chair exhibition all along Reforma. Taking more photos of ourselves than I’ve ever done so in my life. Funny.
And por fin…los tacos de nopal de nuevo. El olor de la harina de maiz. Such delicious goodness! I devoured a whole plate today and knew why Ryan told me vegetarian food was easier and better in Mexico.

I reckon if you had have been at Lima airport a couple of days earlier we could have met up. That makes me feel very close to you.

That would have been so lovely. Yes. Close. I will see it positively that way… that is good, I was feeling so sad it couldn’t have come to fruition! Still. But yes close. Casi eh.
