New York.
I am in New York. My overwhelming thought is this. It’s big.
It’s very cool and have been running around pinching myself because it feels fake. But itus expensive and don’t have much internet time. But people are mega friendly. The mega friendliest

Meeting Americans often reminds me that they’re not that bad.

Yes, yes yes. What a wonderful place. I’ve taken many photos and yes people are friendly and meeting them reminds you and I’d be jealous too.
I’m actually in Cleveland now which is about 50 million times less cool. But I am seeing the Indigo Girls tonight which makes it all OK.
I haven’t even written about the coolness of NYC yet…

I’m pinching myself that you’re there too!
Quote from ‘A Round Heeled Woman’ - New York City, like no other city I’ve ever visited, extracts one’s money with a smile, makes one happy to turn over money one didn’t know one had”

Did you get April fooled while you were there?

i thought new york was only nice to consumers. since you’re not really a consumer, I can’t work out why they;d be nice to you.
I called you place the other day to say i was calling from disneyland, but they said you were in Yorkers. perhaps you could teach me some espanol to communicate with your housies on the phone while i wait for your arrival?
we currently have a big bunch of merican students (think wesley and newtown) visiting, so i sometimes FEEL like I’m in the US.

Well, Mum, that quote is most seemingly true I’d say. And Lu, no I did not dear but I did think of you on your birthday…did you get my letter? And Gazza, (I’m embracing my Aussieness so much here), it seems that the US is proving all my expectations wrong, funnily. As much as I was bery cross, I think that New Yorkers are lovely.
How lovely that you called my house. I suppose you spoke to Chalis or Xuxa if they managed to communicate that much.
Next time perhaps say your only spanish knowledge… una cerveza por favor?
Or try
Podria hablar con Jemma?
And if they say something like,
ella no esta aqui
you can call another time…or you could take a different tack and say
Que onda?
and they’d either laugh a long time or talk really fast assuming you were mexican. I’ll return home soon.
