31 December 2004
a moment of reflection
I’ve been wanting to reflect on the year that has been, but don’t have all the time in the world. It’s been a pretty big year for me when I think about it
2004 was the year that
I moved out of home
I got a better understanding of what it means to start growing up
I got a better understanding of childhood
I learnt to appreciate the slow constant life
I broke up with Chris
I met God
I found a new church to call my home
I became obsessed with John Mayer
I finished a year of Visual Communication at UTS and decided to go back
I took a few risks with God (and not enough)
I found Blackstump really valuable
I went walking along a convict trail
I got some proper hiking boots
I had the most interesting conversations I think I’ve ever had (hopefully this will happen every year)
I almost read a whole cm of The Message (this is actually a very big achievement)
I started beading
I learnt why I like design and why I want to do it
I worked on the elections
I grieved the election results
I learnt to value the familiar
I went to New Zealand
I scarred myself for life with the most whopper blisters ever from an ice hike
I motivated myself to do a full day trek in New Zealand all on my own
I cried just to grieve
I got a better understanding of what it means to grieve
I learnt a lot about myself
I learnt a lot about relationships
I reflected a lot on relationships
I jointly organised the most famous two week road trip to Adelaide sincethe last more famous one
I fulfilled my life long dream to rent out an entire YHA
The magical recipe of not burgers arrived in the world
I got fit
I had arm muslces
I got depressed when I didn’t exercise
I watched all three Lord of the Rings extended editions in one day
I had my first Spanish class
I stayed on an organic fruit farm and managed to miss the snake
I ate muchos pancakes
I had a good time
2004 has been a run of ups and downs but I think it has been very significant to me. A lot has happened and I think it may have been a year where I have learnt almost as much as I did in Kindergarten. That’s a lot. At least I feel like I have matured. I think there are other things I have done. I’ve had fun and I look forward to more of it.
